Since its initiation in April 2021, the virtual/IRL skool presents open calls for creative and educational programing during which free to attend participant-led artistic courses, lectures, workshops, events, clubs, and happenings take place.

All FSKN course and workshop-facilitating positions will come with ✰ financial stipends ✰ to support teaching artists in their pedagogical pursuits with us.

        >>> More info about how to apply as teaching artist can be found in                     our Teach section.

With the majority of school activity hosted on Zoom/Discord or elsewhere in cyberspace, participants are welcome to teach and learn from    >> anywhere and everywhere <<

Additionally, we encourage both teaching artists and students to explore utilizing any other virtual platforms and environments that may be helpful in collectively exploring ideas and/or creative collaboration.

It is a future goal of the skool that our courses and workshops will be recorded and archived on this site for anyone to access at their convenience and in their own time.

While our initial timeframe for this pilot was intended to run from April-September 2021, we are *thrilled* to share that as a result of the generous funding we have received, alongside the ever-present inspirational and foundational community collaboration, we are going to be able to keep running programming through the rest of the year!!

Teach / Learn Opportunities

Each FSKN programming session will consist of primary public educational offerings in the form of facilitator-led courses and supplemental workshops as well as participant-organized clubs.

Courses will present a facilitator-defined, topic-based or skill-building lectures while Workshops and Clubs will provide more expansive, experimental, and process-oriented spaces and opportunities for participants to publicly explore, share, or develop a facet of their own creative practice.

Propose / Enroll:

Applications for Teaching proposals to contribute to the skool’s programming as a facilitating artist  (courses & workshops)  were released as a public open call in July and will continue to stay open until we have exhausted all of our remaining funding.

Registration for all skool activity opened during our kickoff  virtual launch party ꧂ which was held in our Virtual Gymnasium on Friday, April 9th @  7-9 CST / 5-7 PST.

*Funding for this first cycle has been generously supported in part by the Cultural            Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department and Austin Mutual Aid with additional support from the Museum of Human Achievement.
